Acrostix - "Truth Turned Gray with Justice" on Black Water Records $5.00
Excellent crust with a rocking Japanese Hardcore feel.
Active Minds - "Capitalism Is A Disease..." on Loony Tunes Records $5.00
After S.A.S. broke up, two bands formed from it: Active Minds and Satanic Malfunctions. This EP by Active Minds dates back to 1991. Right from the start Active Minds was playing fuzzed out political thrash with melodic tendencies. Political punk with a sincere commitment to DIY values, anti-capitalism, and the radical left.
Active Minds - "Behind The Mask" on Loony Tunes Records $5.00
Fuzzed out yet tuneful political punk from England on this 1993 release. More of what you'd expect from Active Minds. Can't go wrong with that. Still committed to being anti-computers/anti-compact discs.
Active Minds - "The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum" flexi on Loony Tunes Records $3.00
A flexi, so you know this is old, ha. From 1994, another great Active Minds release. Tuneful, fuzzed out thrash with some not so subtle nods to more melodic influences with lyrics that take a stance against the bullshit in the world.
Active Minds - "Dis Is Getting Pathetic..." on Loony Tunes Records $5.00
Never afraid to call people on their shit, Active Minds went after all the trend followers in the Disclone/D-beat genre who never thought about the anti-war lyrics they were writing with this 1995 EP. Great to see a punk band that's not afraid to take a stance and call the scene out on it's on shit.
Active Minds - "I'm Not A Tourist... I Live Here" on Loony Tunes Records $5.00
Ex-SAS members playing fuzzed out thrash and melodic hardcore. This EP is from 1997 and continues in the same direction they've been in for over 10 years. Political lyrics with an anti-capitalist/anti-authoritarian/left wing stance to them.
Active Minds - "The National Lotta E" on Loony Tunes Records $5.00
1998 EP by English greats that sometime play melodic hardcore and other times full on thrash.
Active Minds - "Recipe For Disaster" on Loony Tunes Records $5.00
2000 release. Another great EP.
Active Minds/Umbrella Tribe split on Maloka Records $5.00
Active Minds are still going strong playing their brand of anarcho-punk, and Umbrella Tribe are from Switzerland and play political punk.
Active Minds/An-Atta split on Capeet Records $5.00
Icons of D.I.Y. punk Active Minds meet An-Atta (former Anomie members) who play furious new school HC with female vocals and eerie violin parts. Each bands offer up to new songs. Recommended for the Active Minds material.
Active Minds/Voco Protesta split on Aktiva Protesta Rekordo $5.00
Active Minds from England return with their first new release in a few years. They maintain their high quality anarcho-punk/hardcore assault that you would expect from them over the past 20 or so years. Great to see how much they are still committed to DIY and haven't changed their music a bit. Voco Protesta come from Japan plays noisy anarcho-punk influenced musically by Disorder and Chaos UK. Excellent lyrics and excellent music.
After The Bombs - "Spoils Of War" on The Total End Records $4.00
An excellent follow up to their first 7" from 2005. Two originals of total Sacrilege worship, and they really nail the sound. The A side is simply unbelievable in its power and production. The song writing is greatly improved over the first 7". The last track is an excellent versions of Bathory's "War."
After The Bombs - "Bloody Aftermath" b/w "Black Horse Of Famine" 7" on Distort Reality Records $4.00
Recorded with the same line up and during the same session as the LP and "Spoils Of War" 7". They've since changed second guitarists. An excellent EP very much in the vein of Sacrilege on the "Behind The Realms Of Madness" LP. Perfect production, a great guitar song, and brutal female vocals.
Amdi Petersens Arme - "Blod Ser Mere Virkligt Ud Da Film" on Havoc Records $4.00
"From Copenhagen Denmark comes Amdi Petersen's Arme. Named after an elusive Danish cult leader (the Jim Jones of Denmark?) this raw hardcore punk band took DIY hardcore circles by storm with their first 7" on Kick and Punch Records. APA play trashy aggressive hardcore in the early 80's US style. The first 7" sounded very much like early Dischord singles such as Youth Brigade, SOA and Teen Idles. This second 7" continues in the same vein but has a bit more of a Nervous Breakdown/Jealous Again era Black Flag feel or perhaps like missing sessions from Boston Not LA. Not only is this 7" raw and intense like sticking your hand in an industrial meat grinder, the songs are so catchy that you will be humming them to yourself for days after the first time you hear them. Amdi Petersen's Arme toured the USA in the summer of 2002. Then broke up. Members also played in Young Wasteners and Uro. Ex members of APA are now in Gorilla Angreb and No Hope for the Kids." -Felix/Havoc Records
Armagedom - "Apogeu Da Insanidade Crepusculo Da Humanidade" on Absurd Records $4.00
Legendary Brazilian thrashers.
Artimus Pyle/Diallo split on Busted Heads Records $5.00
Two lengthy doom-ridden tracks from each band. Both bands deal in super heavy, fast, destructive and dark hardcore, but without sounding anything like each other. Totally punishing.
Ataque Frontal - s/t on Burrito Records $3.50
Raw Peruvian hardcore from 1988. One of the first Peruvian hardcore records ever made, officially reissued by Burrito Records, including a bonus track not on the original and improved packaging. Sounds like a cross between Olho Seco, S.O.A., and early D.R.I all rolled into one. The vocals are among the meanest you'll ever hear. Fans of South American hardcore have been screaming for this reissue for years.
Attentat Sonore - "Barricades 1905" on Strongly Opposed Records $5.00
Anarcho-punk from France by this long running band. This record is in reference to workers' strikes that took place in Limoges, France in the spring of 1905 in response to abuses they were incurring. Four songs total released in conjunction by several European labels.
Autistic Youth - "Empty Eyes" on Black Water Records $4.00
"Cool melodic Punk/HC here from Portland. Kind of like a punker Observers. Good shit." -Brickwall Records
The Bags - "Survive" on Artifix Records $5.00
Legit reissue of this Dangerhouse classic. One of the best Dangerhouse Records releases.
Belching Penguin - "1985/1988 Demos" on Burrito Records $4.00
"Cult-classic Florida hardcore best known for their ultra-rare 1986 album, "Draft Beer... Not Me." This release has four early versions of songs from the LP and four unreleased songs from 1988, perviously heard by only a few of the band's closest friends. Comes with an 8 page booklet, full of photos and old-show flyers plus a double-sided 11 by 17 inch poster. Colored vinyl, too. Discover why BP is considered by many to be the best-kept secret in hardcore." -Sound Idea
Benedict Arnold and the Traitors - "Kill The Hostages" on Artifix Records $5.00
"Benedict Arnold and the Traitors released "Kill the Hostages" in 1980 on Putrid Records, the band's own label. Benedict Arnold and the Traitors were a unique band that blended political and social issues into punk as they saw it. They released the highly offensive "Kill The Hostages" single at the height of the hostage crisis between the U.S. and Iran and caught a lot of negative press for it. They existed on what they saw as the fringe of the scenster punk scene and tried their best to annoy and offend everyone. The band started in 1980 and lasted until 1983 when they changed their musical direction and became the Antinomians for a brief stint before changing once again into The Hundredth Monkey. During their brief run, they managed to release one 7" single and one 7" EP of quirky aggro punk." -Artifix Records
Besthoven/Violation split on Final Attempt Records $4.50
Besthoven continues their raw punk tradition with some new tracks here of raw D-Beat hardcore inspired mainly by Discharge among others. Violation is from Philly and features ex-members of a ton of bands from the past few years. Heavier, crust/hardcore sound here, NOT a Tragedy thing though. Good stuff.
The Black Lips "Party at Rob's House" on Die Slaughterhaus Records $5.00
Rock 'n roll caught live on the "Party At Rob's House" series.
Bone Awl - "Night's Middle" on Klaxon Records/Nuclear War Now! Productions $5.00
The best black metal band to emerge since Bathory me thinks. Lo-fi recordings, punk influenced songs, no blast beats, and no Satanic imagry. The band leaves much to the imagination with their vague soundscapes. One of the best bands going today regardless of genre.
Boxed In - "World Stops Turning" on Crime Scene Records $5.00
The first outing from these northern noise merchants. Eight songs, none of which none get over the two minute mark. Strong message through the lyrics, mostly dealing with the stupidity of humans and the mess we make of our world. A graceful combination of D-beat and thrash give you some serious action. Includes an Anti-Cimex cover.
Boxed In - "The second EP" on Busted Heads Records $5.00
Featuring ex-members of pretty much every UK band of the '90s, Boxed In plays ripping, distorted hardcore/thrash in very much the same vein as UK legends Heresy. "A holocaust in your head"
Bread and Water/Reason of Insanity split on Burrito Records $3.50
B&W-melodic and powerful hardcore; ROI-debut of these Louisiana thrashers
BSA - s/t on Distort Reality Records $4.00
Second EP by this Texas raw punk band with a variety of influences. Some Scandinavian hardcore sound, some UK hardcore like the Varukers, and some other stuff.
Bug Central - "Money And Riots" on BBP Records $5.00
Four tracks of old style UK anarcho punk at it's best. If you like Anthrax, Liberty, and Class War, you'll love this. Contains ex-members of Anthrax.
Burning Times - s/t on Tadpole Records $5.00
"Brighton's very own Burning Times (who number members of Abandon Ship) let rip on this debut 7Ó with some furious blasts of wound up and pissed off raw hardcore. They sing loud and proud about sexual freedom and liberation, loneliness, alienation and the thin veil of Ôscene unityÕ. Mighty solid debut, and incidentally - nice to see Tadpole Records back on the mapÉ at this rate the next release will be out when I'm 50!!!" -Zonked zine
Cardiac Arrest - "Life's A Dead End" on Grave Mistake Records $4.00
"Brand new EP from these Midwest ragers! On their second EP, St. Louis' Cardiac Arrest deliver six more ripping tracks of fast and pissed hardcore, reminiscent of early boston bands like Negative FX or the F.U.'s. If you picked up their debut 7", you should have an idea of what to expect, only better the second time around! Clocking in six songs at approximately six minutes, this EP will have you floored before you even realize what hit you. Short, fast, raw, abrasive and in your face, exactly how hardcore was meant to be played." -Grave Mistake Records
C.C.S.S. - "Commun Chfeu Sa Soupe" on Ugly Pop $4.50
"Four tracks of snotty, abrasive hardcore punk from this new Montreal, Canada outfit. Inepsy folks are involved but this is a rougher attack with no metal or crust influence, just angry pure punk rock inspired by UK82 and early US hardcore." -Ugly Pop
Chainsaw - "Monopolized" on Way Back When Records $5.00
Four songs of traditional Japanese hardcore. Chainsaw have been together for 13 years now, so they know the deal. Blowing '84 Poison Idea meets the Selfish label sound.
Chronic Seizure - s/t on Fashionable Idiots $4.00
Second EP by this old school hardcore punk band from Chicago. Yes, another one of the "retro" bands, but these guys are among the elite in the bunch. Great songs with great production and good lyrics set this band apart from the pack.
Civil Disobedience - "In A Few Hours Of Madness" on Havoc Records $4.00
I've got to be honest when i say that this is one of my all time favorite 7"s personally. For those who haven't heard it already, i can't recommend this highly enough. This EP is definitely rooted in early '80s anarcho/political punk, but i'd hate to limit it to sounding just like those bands. Drawing influences from bands like Conflict, Subhumans, and perhaps the Instigators, Civil Disobedience took the most anthematic and hardest songs by those bands and really went with it while adding some of the craziest, catchiest, and simply the best guitar work ever laid down on a HC punk 7". No crust influence though. This was recorded in 1993 and hasn't aged a bit. They went on to do an LP for Profane Existence that was in a slightly different direction and wasn't as good in my opinion, but this 7" is just mindblowing. The lyrics are great too and expand beyond the typical themes that are often covered in political punk. I don't know what else to say. Awe inspiring.
Cloak/Dagger - "Kamikazes" on Grave Mistake Records $4.00
"Cloak/Dagger" tear through the distinctive guitar fuzz driven track "Kamikazes" off of their 2007 "WE ARE" full length on the A-side, then a blistering rendition of the MODERN LOVER'S cut "SHE CRACKED" on the flip. Still out of control, and you've still got a problem." -Grave Mistake Records
Closet Fairies/Party Garbage split on Kiss Of Death Records $4.00
"Bostons's Closet Fairies feature Spent and some of the dudes from WWD. The other side is the final release from Austin, Texas's Party Garbage. If you are not familiar with either band, then get with it and check this out." -Kiss Of Death Records
Cluster Bomb Unit - "...And The Dirty Little Weapons" on Havoc Records $4.00
"From Stuttgart, Germany, Clusterbombunit plays brutal Dis-core which reminds me a lot of Discharge's Why? 12" with maybe more added crunch and brutality. The lyrics are bleak and desperate to match the muisc, dealing with the insanity of war and oppression. CBU have a 7" and 10" on Thought Crime Records from Berlin and a long out of print split flexi with Resist, a split 7" with Disclose, a US tour ep and a split 7" with RAGG. They have done European and US tours. This 7" was recorded in 1997 for Pushead's label and finally saw the light of day on Havoc. CBU is one of my absolute favorite bands of the 90's and probably the best band I saw live in Europe on tour in 1999 (well, tied with DS 13). CBU released a new LP on Tribal War Asia in the summer of 2001, and the Last Band Standing EP in 2003. Clusterbombunit is one of those bands that no one is on the fence about. Those who like this band are really into them, the intensity, power and brutality of it all. Everyone else, just doesn't get it. If you can dub or download the 10"especially, check it out. For more info and some free MP3's go to the Clusterbombunit Website Clusterbombunit is still going strong but aren't as active as they used to be. If you see them, tell them it's time for a Discography CD on Havoc and a second US tour." -Felix Havoc
Complications - s/t on Feral Ward $4.00
First vinyl release by this Montreal band comprised of the majority of Born Dead Icons. Similiar to Born Dead Icons in the dark feel, but taking it one step further. Complications have sort of a Killing Joke meets Born Dead Icons sound for lack of a better way to describe it. I think a lot of people really took notice of the demo which was great. If you were as big of a fan of BDI as i was, i think you'll really like this.
Constant State of Terror - s/t on Tadpole Records $5.00
Demo CDr pressed to 7" vinyl. "CST hailing from Brighton play crusty UK-style punk with a feel of Discharge and Antisect. This CD-R comes with a nice printed artwork along with lyrics and explanations and the production here is what most crust bands dream about. These 5 tracks of solid gold, raging crust blow me away and i can't wait to hear more from these bastards. Great job!" -Potin/Profane Existence #54
Constant State Of Terror - s/t on Inflammable Material Records/Tadpole Records $5.00
Second EP after their demo was pressed to vinyl in late '07. Continuing along the same lines as the demo as well. UK crust with sort of a '90s crust sound. Ex-members of Substandard, MTA, Combat Shock, Seven Arrows In Your Bastard Heart, etc.
Constricted - "All Confusion" on Destroy Records $5.00
Ex-members of Humpty Dumpty from Japan playing intense hardcore that is a mixture of the Varukers and Japanese hardcore.
CPC Gangbangs/Confusers split on P. Trash Records $5.00
"Of these two Canadians bands, The Confusers focus more on quick, buzzsaw stabs, reminiscent of any number of "tweener-core" bands, though sounding anthemic enough to confuse the '77 clan. CPC Gangbangs, a band I apparently have to review every time a record comes in here or else I'll pout, are so goddamn good that I get pissed at myself for writing them off as a side-project when they originally appeared. Every new release by them pushes their raw, loud-as-fuck guitar-driven punk rock to new height. Seriously, this band pretty much buries anything this side of Baeball Furies and other like-minded straight-shooters nowadays, if only because they aren't afraid to wig right the fuck out once in a while. Here, CPC Gangbangs tip the scales into noiseville and I'm pleased as punch. The much-promised full length better appear quickly... I'm running out of underwear." -Mitch Cardwell
Crossing Chaos/Full Of Hatred - split on Raid Records $5.00
Crossing Chaos are easily one of the best Swedish hardcore bands going today, and this record helps prove why. Full Of Hatred plays similiar styled hardcore/crust and are from Italy.
Crow - "Flock Of Beast" on Prank Records $5.00
"Tokyo Legends Crow return with two new blasting tracks of Doomy Metallic Punk Mayhem – "Flock Of Beast" and "Flock Of Beast 2". Thundering deeper into epic, mid tempo metallic territory on the A-side with Crow's trademark gravel-drawn vocals over searing riffs, this EP echoes their recent "The Beating Of The Wings Of Destruction" 12" by exploding on the B-side into ferocious, fast paced hardcore. Crow origins date back to the early Japanese punk scene of the 1980's, but they have attacked in the last decade with a renewed intensity, culminating this decade in two US tours and a second Album "Bloody Tear" which was released in the U.S. by Prank in 2007. This most recent recording testifies they have no intention of letting up that ferocious Intensity!!!" -Ken/Prank Records
Dead Inside - s/t on Land Of Treason $5.00
The first four songs by this legendary UK hardcore band, featuring Broccoli, Hard To Swallow, Annalise and Comet Gain members. Amazing Born Against-style frenzied emotional hardcore! Gatefold sleeve and heavy vinyl too.
Deathcage - "Tomorrow We Die" on Sniper Fucker Records $6.00
"3 trax of Australian hardcore, picks up were the "Chaos Night Rider" 7" left off, but adds more over the top guitar and NWOBHM influence. Best stuff to date."
Deep Sleep - "You're Screwed" on Grave Mistake Records $4.00
"Nine song debut EP from Baltimore's Deep Sleep. Prepare yourself for a nonstop barrage of raw, spiteful, in your face hardcore punk rock. Drawing some heavy influences from classic 80's socal bands punk (a little Descendents and Adolescents worship never hurt anyone), while maintaining a healthy dose of originality, Deep Sleep have created a soon to be modern punk rock classic, loaded with enough infectious hooks to keep you singing along from start to finish, yet packing enough punch to knock you straight on your ass at the same time." -Grave Mistake Records
Deep Sleep - "Manic Euphoria" on Grave Mistake Records $4.00
"Two years, lineup changes, drugs, jail, and other assorted misfortunes can't keep a good band down. Baltimore's Deep Sleep are back with a vengeance, this time around firing out six more tracks of their brand of seething yet addictive punk rock. Expanding on the early southern california punk influences of the first record, and adding an extra dosage of All/Descendents style weirdness and catchiness to the picture, Manic Euphoria shows a distinct evolution from their debut while maintaining all of the elements you grew to love in the first place." -Grave Mistake Records
Dick Spikie/Bad Nasty split on Dynamite Records $4.50
Japanese chaos punk/pogo punks Dick Spikie solidifies why they are considered one of the best Japanese pogo punk bands, while newcomers Bad Nasty from France play mid-tempo melodic street punk with tons of catchy hooks.
Die Kreuzen - "Cows and Beer" on Barbarian Records $4.00
"Finally, after 25 years of being out of print, arguably the best Midwest hardcore record is available again! Die Kreuzen were light years ahead of their time. Originally released in 1982, this 7Ó is faster and more brutal than almost anything else from the time period. Harsh vocal attacks mixed with intricate guitar work and mind numbingly fast drums make this release essential for any collection." -Barbarian Records
Direct Control - "Nuclear Tomorrow" on Sorry State Records $4.00
"Direct Control return with their latest time warp back to 1983 featuring five of the best tracks from their much talked about demo re-recorded faster, tighter and with better sound quality. Think Mecht Mensch, Poison Idea, the Fix, etc. Note: these copies are from the second press, which was limited to 550 copies on red vinyl." -Sorry State Records
Disorder - "Kamikaze" on Campary Records $5.00
2002 EP by UK noise merchants Disorder that shows little progression since their first EP in 1981. Still chaotic, fuzzed out hardcore punk. Recorded in Japan.
Dispense - "Nothing But The Truth" on Rodel Records $5.00
Brutal Dis-beat crust/HC from Sweden. Recorded in 1993.
Dog Soldier - "Ghosts" on Whisper In Darkness $4.00
Follow up EP by this Portland, Oregon charged punk band to their LP on Hardcore Holocaust. Anthematic hardcore punk heavily influenced by old Britcore/UK82 styles but with plenty of other elements thrown in too. Not some Punkcore 'street punk' record by any means. Driving and barking, Dog Soldier is another solid punk band from PDX in a long line of greats.
Domo Arigato - "Japanese Punk" on Strongly Opposed $5.00
Japanese punk in the Discharge tradition. Four songs total on this EP with two sung in English and two sung in Japanese.
Dyspnea/Nakot split on Alcoholic Desaster $5.00
Two Greek crust powerhouses featured on the same record. Fans of heavy crust will dig this.
Ecoli - s/t on Stress Domain Records $4.00
Excellent debut here. This record brings to mind bands like Koro, Neos, Deep Wound, and Septic Death (or Sex/Vid for a modern comparison). Catchy riffs played at doubled speeds (no blast beats), snotty vocals, and little bits of noise thrown in make this one far beyond a winner. I was really surprised by this 7". Members of Nightstick Justice and Second Opinion. Can't recommend this record enough. Great.
Estranged - s/t on Black Water Records $4.00
Two song debut EP from ex-members of Remains Of The Day. This sounds nothing at all like that band though. The Estranged combine the likes of The Wipers, Joy Division, Mission Of Burma, and others to make a catchy and intense record. Easily one of the best records of 2008. "Debut EP from Portland's The Estranged... Driving melodic punk in a dark kind of Wipers post punk way. Great Debut. This one will not disappoint. Hellshock, Remains of the Day, Warcry, etc. members" -Brickwall Records
Estranged - "Sacred Decay" on Dirtnap Records $4.50
Second EP and just as good as thte first. Heavily influenced by bands like Mission Of Burma, Moving Targets, Joy Division, and The Wipers, The Estranged play some excellent post punk.
Factory Men - s/t on My Mind's Eye Records $5.00
"Recordings made with Steve from Homostupids during and after their "Brutal Birthday" sessions. 7 spooky cuts featuring synth, drum, guitars and mouth. For fans of that Homostupids record, or weird shit like Blank Dogs." -P.Trash Records
FAF/Renegades split on Die Slaughterhaus Records $5.00
Renegades are pre-Black Lips. 7" is limited to 500.
Fat Day - "Smell Me Silly!" on H.G. Fact Records $5.00
An older H.G. Fact Records (Japan) label release. This one is of the spastic and unpredictable Boston band Fat Day. Not powerviolence, not exactly thrash, Fat Day were really their own entity. Recommended.
The Freeze - "Guilty Face" on Schizophrenic Records $5.00
A re-release of my favorite Freeze material. This was their all out thrash record and is really fantastic. Top tier American hardcore originally released in 1984. Highly recommended.
Funeral - "Cry Of State Desperation" (self released) $4.00
Discharge influenced "D-Beat" hardcore punk. I think most people are familiar with this style by now. Fans of Discard, Disclose, Dischange, Disaster, and of course Discharge i guess should take note if you don't already own this.
Fy Fan - s/t on Feral Ward $4.00
New(ish) raw hardcore band coming out of Sweden in the vein of Totalitar. An excellent debut EP. Feral Ward is extremely consistant in their quality control.
Ghost Aquarium - "Light Can Not Escape" on Ripping Records $3.50
Dark tinged indie rock influenced by Dinosaur Jr., Archers Of Loaf, Husker Du, Built To Spill, etc. The B-side contains a cover of Christian Death's "Spiritual Cramp". This was put out by Josh from the Runnamuck's label, Ripping Records. I didn't really like this release to be quite honest.
Global Holocaust - "Unequal Justice" on Rotten To The Core Records $4.00
Four songs total from the 1990s by this Montreal crust band that went on to have members in Inepsy, Hellbound, etc. The '90s sucked for a lot of reasons, i think that's pretty indisputable at this point, but it was a great time for crust music. Disrupt, State Of Fear, and many Swedish bands along with Global Holocaust all put out some great material. These songs written by Global Holocaust were released on comps in the '90s but never on vinyl until now. A good release.
Government Warning - "Arrested" on Grave Mistake Records $4.50
"Brand new E.P. from Richmond, VA's Government Warning. "Arrested" picks up right where 2006's No Moderation left off, blazing through four new tracks of their brand of unadulterated hardcore punk rock (think Gang Green, RKL, and Adolescents thrown in a blender)... one catchy as hell title track followed by three more fast and ferocious cuts guaranteed to leave you floored. This EP has it all; hooks, speed, attitude, piss, vinegar ...definintely will not disappoint." -Grave Mistake Records
Government Warning - "Executed" on Grave Mistake Records $4.00
"Brand new 45 single to accompany the new full length. Recorded in the same session as Paranoid Mess. This was originally intended to be a European tour single but we just opted to make it a proper release instead. The title track charges through at varying speeds, musically taking cues from Kings Of Punk era Poison Idea topped with Kenny's biting vocal delivery, while the flip side backhands you with one quick ripper in standard GW fashion, followed up with a Battalion of Saints cover." -Alex/Grave Mistake Records
Gunnar Hansen - "Village Idiot" on Audio Fellatio Records $4.50
Canadian hardcore that strongly reminds me of Born Against mixed with some old '80s Canadian hardcore bands. This is their debut EP.
Hard Skin - "Make My Tea" on Feral Ward $4.00
Fucking awesome and hilarious Oi.
Hellshock - "Warlord" on Profane Existence Records $4.00
Terminal Filth Stenchcore from Portland modled after Deviated Instinct, Amebix, Axegrinder, and Celtic Frost. Politically minded, metallic, and totally shredding.
Hjertestop - "Aarh fuck...Det er HjerteStop" on Kick N' Punch Records $5.00
I kind of consider this to be the last great record in the wave of exceptional Copenhagen bands that started off with acts such as Amdi Petersens Arme, Young Wasteners, Hul and went on to include No Hope For The Kids, Gorilla Angreb, and many others. This release seemed to mark the end of an era, as it was the last Danish band influenced by American HC to put out a record on Kick N' Punch. Fantastic, catchy, and somewhat snotty hardcore done with a ballsy, clean guitar tone, great shouted vocals, and an all around great sound. Highly recommended.
Homostupids - "The Brutal Birthday" $5.00
This was originally recorded as a demo prior to "The Glow" EP and, i believe, features a different line-up than that EP. Musically, this is a lot different sounding than "The Glow" EP. I really don't know how to describe it.
Homostupids - "The Edge" on P.Trash Records $8.00
"Don't worry, dipshits, we ain't releasing a solo-album by bloody U2's guitar-picker here!!! "The Edge" is the new release by Steve 9 Shocks Terror latest band Homostupids and it gives any gutter trash like you another fine excuse to exist. A nihilistic feedback orgy in 3 acts, packed with merciless insanity, screeching guitars, distorted echo-voice and a totally wasted I-don't-give-a-flying-fuck-attitude, all thrown together in a stinky garage. If you like getting loaded and jacking off to the Fatals, then see how these fuckers can blow you." -P.Trash Records
Homostupids - "Cat Music" on Fashionable Idiots Records $4.00
"On this 45 our favorite Cleveland dummies crank through three more tracks of primitative caveman goodness. Meow. Someone let the cat out of the bag and it sure is one self hating and embarrassing mess." -Fashionable Idiots Records
Instangd - "Mitt Svar Pa Ingenting" on Sorry State Records $4.00
"Sweden's Instangd are a new band featuring members of Regulations and Tristess, but they don't sound anything like the melodic punk of those bands. On Mitt Svar Pa Ingenting, Instangd take as their main influence old, barbaric Scandinavian punk like Headcleaners / Huvudtvatt, Missbrukarna, or S.O.D. (the Swedish one, not the one from New York). If you need a less obscure comparison, Urban Waste would make a good reference point since this has a completely blown-out, blistering guitar sound and catchy, punk-as-shit vocals. Needless to say, this six-song rager destroys everything in its path." -Sorry State Records
Instant Agony - "Think Of England" on Weird Records $5.00
A 2002 release containing a re-recording of "Think Of England" from their '82 EP of the same name on the A side and two new tracks from 2002 on the B side. Catchy, tuneful punk from UK82 legends.
Insult/Execucao split on Disaster Sonoro Records $5.00
Two Italian bands on one this 7" playing well executed thrashy hardcore
Isolation - s/t on Destroy Records $5.00
Japanese crust with dual male and female vocals.
Jacuzzi Boys - s/t on Floridas Dying Records $5.00
Well played fuzz/psych from Florida on a very solid label.
Judgement - "Just Be" on Prank Records $5.00
"Judgement "Just Be" was originally released as a CD- Only EP by Tokyo's HG Fact label in 2001. This was the debut release of the Tokyo bands final line up Comprised of Japanese legends Guitarist Zigyaku (Gudon, Half Years, Bastard), Drummer MUKAI (Chicken Bowels, Deathside) and then-new members singer Jha Jha (Lipcream) and bassist Sakura. Combining the best elements of the band's previous works with an upbeat spirit, high energy drumming and incredible guitar riffs, "Just Be"'s is another landmark in the band's impressive catalog of now classic 7" ep's dating back to the band's origins in the mid 1990's. This is the first time these four tracks appear on vinyl. Split release with HG Fact released for Judgement's recent US performance at Austin's Chaos In Tejas Festival." -Ken/Prank Records
Kaaos - "Nukke" on Havoc Records $4.00
"Taking their inspiration from UK bands like Discharge, Disorder and Chaos UK, the Finnish hardcore punk bands produced a pretty unique and aggressive style of hardcore. Kaaos was one of the best bands from this period. They released a split 7" with the Cadgers, an LP, a 7" and a split LP with Terveet Kadet. Hailing from Tampere (Finland's second largest city), Kaaos included members of Riistetyt, the Bastards, Varaus, Protesti, Kuolleet Kukat, and Kohu-63. Singer Jakke is still going strong in Positive Negative. This 7" was recorded in 1985 and originally released by Fight Records of Tampere, Finland in the early '90s." -Havoc Records
Kirottu - "Eloton Maailma" on Panikkia $3.50
Total Riistetyt, Kaaos, and Bastards Finnish hardcore worship from Boston. Finland Bombs Boston 2005. Looks and sounds authentic.
Kontatto/Beyond Description split on Disaster Sonoro Records $5.00
From Italy, Kontatto plays raw hardcore punk in the vein of Italian legends and BD from Japan plays thrashy Japanese hardcore.
Koro - "700 Club" on Sorry State Records $4.00
"Koro's 700 Club may well be the single best hardcore EP of all time; if you ask me only Negative Approach's self-titled EP and Minor Threat's first two 7"s come close. More than likely you've heard the bootlegs, but if you've haven't, imagine the tightest, meanest and fastest band on the planet bashing out eight lightning-quick, sub-60-second rippers. Band comparisons don't do this record justice, so I won't list any. This reissue features a brand new mastering job from the original source tapes (the record may well sound better than the original) and artwork meticulously recreated from the original release, making it far superior to any of the bootlegs that have floated around." -Sorry State Records
Kuolema - "Noise From The Sick City" on Power It Up $5.00
This newly released EP contains nine tracks recorded in February of 1983 with Walde from Terveet Kadet on guitar along with a cover of "Vapaa Pohjola" by Terveet Kadet. Finnish noisey thrash.
Kvoteringen - "Vidrig Maskinell Framfart" on Terrotten Records $5.00
Second EP from this Swedish hardcore/Dis band in the vein of No Security, Totalitar, and others. Still a great sound on this EP with a more stripped down hardcore feel. Raw punk at it's best. Listen to an MP3 at http://www.terrotten.com/sounds/Kvoteringen_-_Vem_Har_Gett_Dom_Ratten.mp3
Lebenden Toten - "Death Culture Deprivation" 8" on Whisper In Darkness $8.00
"Destructing noisecore! 5 new tracks recorded last year [2006] in Japan!"
Lost Cause - "Walk Alone" (self released) $4.00
"4 brand new tracks of unrelenting Motorhead-inspired hardcore from this Philadelphia punk n' roll powerhouse. A great follow up to their out of print debut 12". Features current and ex. members of Endless Nightmare,AOS, Diallo, Dissystema and Witch Hunt." -Ned/Lost Cause
